Without a data connection, you will have to either sit in the vehicle and review on the camera's WiFi network, or remove the SD card daily to review on a computer. If you're running parking mode, then you really need to figure out a data connection for the camera. If you are using the B124x (and B124E), you probably want it for 'Parking Mode'.

If you are a destination driver (meaning you typically drive to a location, spend some time there, and then drive home), you'll probably not get what you need from the B124X, as it will shut off overnight.ģ. Bear in mind that if you do not work weekends, then your battery will not be getting these two spaced out charge sessions those days, and will likely shut off overnight.Ģ. If you are a 9-5 commuter (meaning your car will be parked between say 9am - 5pm and 6pm - 8am), you will likely be able to get by on just the B124X. This is plenty of battery power to keep the dash-cam running all day, provided that you drive at least once a day, for around an hour or so.ġ. This leaves around 8 hours of parking time with my dash cam turned off.īecause of this, I ended up buying a B124E expansion battery as well, which ups my battery powered time to 26-28 hours. I currently drive once a day (due to COVID-19 Lockdown), which means that when I finish driving for the day, I have around 14-16 hours of battery, and inevitably, the battery will run out before I get back in the vehicle. It is important to consider your use case for this reason. With my setup, the B124X was supplying between 14 and 16 hours of power when fully charged. Once you have done that, your battery is installed! It is then a simple case of running the wire from your Dash-Cam to your battery location and plugging it in. When the vehicle is off, the Blackvue battery will not draw additional power. Plugging this cable into your accessory fuse slot (the one that powers any existing USB sockets and the like) means that the battery will only draw power from the vehicle's battery when it is turned on. You will essentially find a place for your battery to hide (typically under a seat or in the glove compartment) and run the included cable through to your vehicle's fuse-box. In practice, the installation method is really the same whether you got for a 'Power Magic Pro' or a 'B124X' or other battery system. Per above, my reason for purchase was to add 'Parking Mode' to my vehicle, without having to hardwire the camera to the vehicle's own battery. If you have a different Dash Cam, your mileage may vary. To start with, I bought this battery alongside a DR900s-2CH with the aim of unlocking 'Parking Mode' on my vehicle.
